Atithi Devo Bhava

ATITHI DEVO BHAVA is a Sanskrit phrase which means “Guest is divine” & PAHUNCHAR means “hospitality”in marathi. We Indians belong to a tradition where guests are treated with the same devotion, love & respect we set aside for God! It is not unusual or surprising when people drop in just like that without any notice or just stay back for lunch/dinner& full meal is prepared within minutes for them.This blog represents that tradition. “Please be my guest of honor in this blog!!”

“Traditional Indian food is found neither in restaurants nor in the recipes of the sophisticated cookbooks but in the kitchens of all Indian women, where they cook with love n’care & serve it with pride ! Cooking can be very exciting - when you perfect the art of cooking traditional dishes & simultaneously invent new ones of your own”.

So “Pahunchar” is my attempt to put down the daily recipes,some special dishes, some tips from my kitchen - some authentic recipes, some handed down recipes & some invented ones.

This food blog with photos will entertain, delight & bring back some memories who already know the recipes, where as hopefully will also give some level of help & interest to the ones who want to try out this Indian & Maharashtrian cuisine.

Chatpatta pani for panipuri

Ingredients:

Glass of ice cold water

Juice of 1 lemon

2 tsp sugar

1 big tsp chaat masala

Finely chopped coriander

Procedure:

Mix all the above ingredients & stir.
Keep stirring till the sugar is dissolved
Chatpatta pani is ready!serve it cold with chat dishes like pani puri or ragda puri or sev puri!
